Summary
FoamCraft is a Blender extension I built for making curved costume and prop pieces out of flat foam sheet. You sculpt the shape at real-world scale, draw the panel seams with Grease Pencil, and FoamCraft works out the flat pieces, the bevel angle for every edge, and an SVG cut pattern ready to print or send to a cutter.
Workflow
- Model the shape at real-world scale in meters.
- Draw panel seams on the surface with Grease Pencil.
- Bake the pattern, converting strokes into mesh topology and unwrapping each piece flat.
- Set the foam thickness and saw specifications.
- Run craftability checks for seam feasibility, piece flatness and material limits.
- Number the pieces and export to SVG with piece numbers and fold angles.

Technical Details
- Calculates bevel angles for each panel edge so pieces meet cleanly when glued.
- Converts Grease Pencil strokes into mesh seams and unwraps each piece.
- Keeps piece numbers stable across re-runs so printed patterns stay valid.
- Optional fold-angle overlay for paper model workflows.
- Built for Blender 5.2 and newer, licensed GPL-3.0-or-later.
